Sister Elena previously taught for 8 years before entering the religious community of the Sisters of Christian Charity. She taught grades 5, 6, and 7 in a Catholic school, teaching in the subject areas of language arts, science, and religion. Following that, she worked as a basic skills intervention teacher in the area of reading, working with students in kindergarten through 6th grade at a charter school in Jersey City. Sr. Elena earned her Master’s degree in Special Education from Georgian Court University, and her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Rider University.
